Matt McMahan (the rescuer) with McCall Fire is being lowered to retrieve and package a patient for rescue. The patient was simulated by the river bank and needed to brought back to the top side of the bridge in a stokes basket. The exercise took place on the Deinhard bridge and was a high-angle rescue scenario.
The Idaho Fire Service Training program class was taught by the Idaho Special Operations Rescue Team. The team is a technical rescue team comprised of firefighters and paramedics with Magic Valley Paramedics and various fire departments. Many of our instructors were rescuers that rescued a couple from their vehicle that were dangling off a bridge over the Malad Gorge in March of 2021. The instructors were top notch with years of experience. Courtesy photo
