Death: Loraine (Day) Carr

Loraine (Day) Carr, 94, passed away peacefully in Weiser, Oct. 13, 2022.


She is survived by son Gregory Bruce Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado;daughter Claudia (Culver) Pickett of Donnelly; son
Dallas Wilmarth of New Meadows; and son Lewis Wilmarth of Council.


Loraine is also survived by nine grandchildren: Mu n d y O sb o r n , L e a h Reeder, Ben Wilmarth, L a c y W i l m a r t h , A n a
Fuller-Wilmarth, Eva FullerWilmarth, Dallas Wilmarth Jr., Rachel Wilmarth, and Jennie Haarsager, and 12 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband and true love Thomas Brown Carr on April 28, 2005, in Boise at the age of 87.


Loraine was born on Feb. 12, 1928 in Oakley to LeRoy and Myrtle Day. Loraine graduated from New Meadows High School and then attended Boise Junior College where she became. a RN.


Along with her interest in nursing, Loraine also worked with her mother at the telephone office in New Meadows for her uncle, Harry Bean. She also worked for Idaho Power as a secretary.


After Loraine and Tom married, Loraine helped Tom push cattle for many years on their ranches in the Weiser, Midvale, and New
Meadows area. Loraine’s father was a rancher in Oakley and her grandfather was a state land commissioner for Idaho.


Loraine had an interest in music from a very young age. She was a very talented musician and played with a group, Pine Tones, in various taverns throughout the Boise area.


She played mostly at the Lazy J tavern on Highway 55 in Eagle. She played the rhythm guitar and sang.


Loraine will always be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. She will be deeply missed. She cared for many people throughout her life.
