Darleen Brogden Nielsen Imhoff

1931 – 2023

Darleen June Brogden was born in South Boise.

She rode over the Broadway Bridge on streetcars and played in farmland not far from the site of the Varney/United Airline field – soon replaced by the Boise State University campus.

In 1948, she married a handsome Boise Junior College football player from Kuna, Bernard Nielsen.

In quick succession she became the mother of two sons, Max and Rex.

Darleen became a single mother who provided her sons with many adventures before marrying Joseph Imhoff, a confirmed bachelor who was besotted with her beauty and sense of fun.

They enjoyed years of shared friendships, golf, travel and summers in McCall.

The condo on the lake where they hosted friends and family now includes children, grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and provides happy memories of Darleen and Joe’s generosity.

Darleen was a member of Crane Creek Country Club and St. Alphonsus Auxiliary.

Survivors include her sons, Max (Cay) and Rex Nielsen; grandchildren Jordan (Jill), Erika (Jeff), Travis (Chelsea) and Cortney and six great-grandchildren.

Darleen will be remembered for her great style, laugh and love of family.

The family is planning a private celebration of life.
