Danice Jean “Dee” Schaeffer

February 25, 2023

Danice Jean “Dee” Schaeffer, age 83, peacefully passed away Feb. 25 at 5:05 a.m.

In her early years before retiring, she was a caregiver for an assisted living facility, a job she truly enjoyed.

It was there she met the love of her life Carl. She never got over his passing early into their relationship.

In spite of her loss, she continued to lead a colorful life and will be remembered for her fondness of celebrating it, as well as her immeasurable love for her family.

Danice was a beautiful mother, amazing grandmother and beloved sister.

She lived her life rarely caring too much about what other people thought of her.

She truly encompassed the idea of letting your hair down and dancing around the house naked like nobody’s watching, while secretly hoping somebody was.

She had a great sense of humor and often tried to view life through the lens of an optimist, even through the roughest of times.

She adored animals of all kinds, but really had an affinity for dachshunds, swans, hummingbirds and potbelly pigs.

Reading romance novels, listening to music and enjoying romantic movies were a few of her favorite pastimes. She was a true romantic at heart.

She loved surrounding herself with beauty and enjoyed collecting artwork and trinkets to decorate her home with.

She was never a big traveler, as she was terrified of traveling by plane, but was content with being home or visiting with family.

She loved and lived a simple life.

Danice leaves behind her legacy of a carefree attitude, her joy of being available to her family and living life authentically.

She’ll be greatly missed and mourned, but we know she joins family members passed and to finally be reunited with her one true love.

Danice leaves behind her son Christopher Swihart; daughter Teresa Swihart; daughter-in-law Tina Artiach; grandsons Logan Swihart, Mark Artiach and Dillon Rupprecht; granddaughters Trinity Willhoyt, Stacie Willhoyt, and Jessica Fjosne; grandson-in-law Burke Fjosne; and great-grandsons Dawson Willhoyt, Xander Smith and Brody Rupprecht.
