CHOP CHOP—Valley County Sheriff Kevin Copperi and Deputy and Kyle Christensen chainsaw rounds of wood held up by an excavator as part of the Sheriff’s Office “Chop with a Cop” wood splitting event, held at Kelly’s Whitewater Park on Friday and Saturday. The VCSO organized the event to stock wood for people in need. So far, about 20 cords have been split. Anyone in need of firewood who cannot gather wood themselves should call deputy Christensen at 208-382-7154 to arrange a time to collect the split wood. Logs were donated by the community, Ikola Logging, which donated a semi-truck load of timber for the event. Sponsors include Kelly’s Whitewater Park, Cascade Hardware, H&H Towing, Parker Tree Service and Granite Excavation. Photo by Max Silverson/The Star-News
