Vandals streak for seventh straight
Sam Penny continued a breakout season with 23 points, including a couple of dunks, and the McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team kept streaking on Saturday with a 71-60 win over 4A Moscow.
Rambler boys hold on for Long Pin lead
One of the highlights made during the Cascade boys basketball team’s 61-59 victory over Garden Valley on Monday came before players even stepped on the court.“The game started with Garden Valley calling us around noon to cancel because they couldn’t find a bus driver to bring them up to Cascade,” coach Josh Hurley said.

Ramblers fourth at holiday tourney
Tyler Thurston delivered the goods with 29 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and the Cascade boys basketball team used a 68-58 win over Victory Charter to navigate a fourth place finish at the Truckstop.com Tournament, held over the weekend in New Plymouth.Cole Olson added 17 points for the Ramblers while Sam Huckaby had a monster game on the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds to go with 11 points.“Great experience,” Cascade coach Josh Hurley said of the three-day tournament, which ran Thursday through Saturday.Thurston’s hot night against the Nampa-based Vipers included cashing in on 6 of 9 attempts from beyond the arc.

The year 2023 was an eventful one for local sports.
Foster big as Vandals streak
Looking for a big win over a bigger school, the McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team followed the lead of their own big man.Mike Foster, a 6-foot-4 post, set the tone early by grinding out eight points in the first quarter to help the 3A Vandals knock off 4A Columbia, 47-32, on Friday in Nampa.
Vandals stop slide against 4A Ridgevue
Gabi Green scored 12 of her team-high 16 points in the second half as the McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team outdueled 4A Ridgevue, 43-30, last week in Nampa to halt a three-game slide.Emma Ormsby snared 10 rebounds and Izzy Tinney gathered six points, seven rebounds and five steals as the Vandals moved to 4-5 with a couple of victories heading into the holiday break.
