Daniels wins another at Calhoun Classic

Matthew Daniels won his second tournament in as many tries this season as the McCall-Donnelly wrestling team competed at the Calhoun Classic on Friday and Saturday in Nyssa, Oregon. Adam Rushton, Jake Carr and Finnigan Moon also made the podium, each finishing fourth at a tournament that featured wrestlers from every classification in Idaho as well as teams from Oregon.

Middle school roundup

Rushton and Fee fourth at districts Kevin Rushton and Cayden Fee both snared fourth-place finishes as the Payette Lakes Middle School wrestling team competed at the Snake River Valley district meet on Saturday in Ontario, Oregon.

Mountaineers fall to Harper

The Meadows Valley boys basketball team stumbled in its first game out this season, losing to Harper Charter School of Oregon, 54-15, on Saturday at the MV gym. Koby Rivas collected 10 points, 15 rebounds and four steals, but the Mountain-eer offense could get little going beyond their senior standout.

M-D JV girls sweep road games The McCall-Donnelly junior varsity girls basketball team swept the competition last week, beating Marsing, 31-16, and Caldwell, 50-26, in non-conference games played on the road.

CASCADE 79, GREENLEAF 26

Thurston was perfect on 11 attempts on his way to scoring 25 points as the Ramblers defeated Greenleaf, 79-26, last week on the road. Olson added 20 points, shooting 10-of-14, and Huckaby chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.

The City of McCall is seeking volunteers to fill an open position on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. The committee advises and makes recommendations to the McCall City Council on matters pertaining to the operations, management and programming of the McCall Parks and Recreation Department.

Vandal boys just miss in opener

Josh Sorensen’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer careened in and off the rim as the Mc-Call-Donnelly boys basketball team opened the season on Saturday with a 50-48 road loss to Orofino. Luke Scott led the Vandals with 10 points while Sam Penny and Sorensen both finished with eight points.
