M-D reaches final The Ford Idaho Center in Nampa was stuffed with Vandal faithful as the McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team played in its second straight 3A state championship game in March. The Vandals lost a heartbreaker, 40-22, to Kimberly, but the M-D squad already cemented a legacy after bringing a first-ever district championship to the school’s boys basketball program.

Koby Rivas battled for 17 points but the Meadows Valley boys basketball team lost to Salmon River, 64-29, during a Long Pin Conference game played Monday in New Meadows. Rivas scored 13 of those points during a strong third quarter for the Mountaineers, but by then it amounted to too little too late.
The McCall Mountaineers hockey team seized an early lead Friday, but Sun Valley stole a couple back late to snare a 2-1 victory in front of a home crowd at Campion Ice House in Hailey. The Mountaineers also lost to the Suns on Saturday, 7-2, dropping their record to 3-5 through eight games.

Luke Scott’s 16 points led three Vandals in double figures and the McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team made plays late to knock off Caldwell, 54-47, last week on the road. Sam Penny added 15 points and Rylan Pate scored 12 points as the Vandals punched above their weight to defeat the 4A Cougars in a non-conference game played in Caldwell.
Gabi Green scored 16 points and Izzy Tinney hit four 3-pointers as the McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team cruised past Council, 67-49, to finish an undefeated run through the Nyssa Christmas Tournament last week in Oregon.
Koby Rivas scored 14 points as the Meadows Valley boys basketball team battled early but couldn’t keep up with Tri-Valley of Cambridge, losing, 50-34, last week in New Meadows. Jake Hendrix added eight points for the Mountaineers, who fell to 0-3 with the Long Pin Conference loss.
Peyton Lathrop scored 12 points and was dynamic on both ends of the court as M-D ran away from Vision Charter, 63-2, during the second day at the Nyssa tournament. Lee Cline added six points for the Vandals, who forced a running clock via the high school mercy rule when their lead eclipsed 30 points.
Kallyn Rogers carried the load with 19 points but the Cascade girls basketball team dug a deep hole during a 50-28 loss at Greenleaf Friends Academy last week. A hole from which it was too deep to dig out.
M-D JV boys split at Caldwell The McCall-Donnelly junior varsity boys basketball “A” team defeated Caldwell, 4524, last week on the road. The Vandals JV “B” team lost to Caldwell, 65-34, after going cold during the fourth quarter.
