M-D girls basketball JV wins two
The McCall-Donnelly girls basketball junior varsity swept games last week to move to 2-0 on the season. The Vandals edged Cole Valley, 41-36, on Saturday and Grangeville, 45-25, earlier in the week.

The Payette Lakes Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team swept the competition during games last week to move to 8-1 on the season. The Vikings topped Weiser Middle School, 33-14, in a game played at the PLMS gym.
Gabi Green poured in 17 points, but the McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Cole Valley, 36-30, on Saturday at the M-D gym. Ashtyn Jones also chipped in eight points, four rebounds and a team-high five steals.
Kiki Frick passed her senior moves in the field test to become a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist for the McCall Figure Skating Club. Her test was completed virtually through the Vaca Valley FSC in Vacaville, California in August 2022. Frick is a freshman in high school.
Cascade’s Jordyn Cummins won four races as the Cascade Killer Whales and the McCall Marlins swim teams competed on Saturday at the Cascade Aquatics and Recreation Center. Luke Johnson also picked up a trio of wins, while Cascade teammates Sawyer Davis, Nash Campbell, Jackie Smith and Laura Inwards all won two races.
The McCall Mountaineers hockey team skated out to an early lead and cruised to a 10-4 victory over the Reno Ice Raiders Friday at the Manchester Ice and Events Centre. Dimitri Jones, Bryan Watters and Mackay Power each came up with two goals as the Mountaineers opened a two-game homestand with a convincing win.

Senior Jenna Thomas drilled three straight 3-pointers during a pivotal second quarter as the McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team defeated Orofino, 64-48, on Saturday at the M-D gym. Thomas ended up with a team-high 17 points and freshman Izzy Tinney chipped in 13 points as the Vandals picked up the win on their home floor to open the season.
