The McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team got defensive to deliver its first Snake River Valley Conference victory last week at the M-D gym, rolling past Payette, 59-24. Ashtyn Jones collected 15 points and six steals while Delaney Ott gathered 14 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Green gathered 22 points, six rebounds and four steals but a slow start sank the Vandals during a league matchup with the Grizzlies last week in Fruitland. Wallace added seven points and seven rebounds while Izzy Tinney chipped in seven points.

Carter Tucker, Avery Riggs and Ethan Sprague all brought home silver as the McCall-Donnelly wrestling team competed at the Maniac Wrestling Invitational Saturday in Orofino. Tucker went 6-1 to place second wrestling at 170 pounds in the tournament’s round-robin format, losing only to the group winner.

Cole Olson scored a team-high 23 points, but the Cascade boys basketball team was outrun and outgunned during a 81-70 loss to Garden Valley on Monday. Tyler Thurston chipped in 18 points in his first game back from injury, but the Wolverines pushed the pace during the Long Pin Conference tilt and pulled out the victory on their home floor.

Kallyn Rogers had a monster game with 29 points and 13 rebounds as the Cascade girls basketball team snapped a fivegame skid by defeating Compass Charter School, 44-22, on Saturday in Meridian. Kyler Nitzel also chipped in 12 points as the Ramblers moved to 6-10 with the non-conference victory.

McCall-Donnelly’s Luke Scott limped out of the locker room following a 28-27 loss to Homedale on Saturday as if he had just engaged in a heavyweight fight, much less a boys varsity basketball game. The Vandal junior was held to four points during the Snake River Valley Conference game played at the M-D gym, slowed by a bum ankle he reaggravated during the second half.
