Ski club loses nonprofit status

The Payette Lakes Ski Club recently lost its status as a nonprofit due to an accounting error, the group’s leadership said.The club’s Executive Director Colby Nielsen said he “fully expects” their nonprofit status to be reinstated following a review by the IRS.“A third-party accounting error caused the revocation of our 501c3 standing,” Nielsen said.The ski club, which manages the Little Ski Hill and Bear Basin Nordic Center, was notified by the IRS on March 14 that its nonprofit status would be revoked.“As soon as we were made aware of the error, we immediately remedied the issue and sent all required documentation to the IRS,” the club said in an email to supporters.“The IRS is in receipt of the required documentation and is processing our reinstatement application.

Over the last week, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has received several reports of a bear that has learned to open certain types of vehicle door handles.These reports have come in from the area around the McCall Golf Club and Spring Mountain Ranch subdivision.“Bears are curious and persistent,” said Regan Berkley, IDFG Regional Wildlife Manager.“Once they figure out how to do something, they’ll keep trying that, especially if they find food in a vehicle,” Berkley said.Fish and Game asks all McCall residents to take two simple steps to keep bears out of their vehicles.First, keep vehicles locked, especially at night.
