The Retreat McCall rebuffed at P&Z

The event venue The Retreat McCall on Boulder Lake Road will not be allowed to rent cabins as short-term rentals, the Valley County Planning and Zoning Commission decided last week.The venue was approved in April 2019 as an events center, but owner Colby Rampton of McCall had applied for the ability to also rent the venue’s five duplex cabins and a planned event center as short-term rental units.The 2019 approval does not allow the cabins to be rented individually but did allow the 40-acre venue to be rented to up to 10 groups per month.

Wolf Creek Fire burns atop West Mountain – Boulder Fire also active south of Cascade

The Wolf Creek Fire on West Mountain grew to 750-acres as of Wednesday, but no evacuations have been ordered for residents along West Mountain Road, or Tamarack Resort. The Wolf Creek Fire was started by lightning on July 25 and is burning on the Payette National Forest on the west side of the West Mountain ridge about three miles southeast of Tamarack Resort.
