Payette forest wants to burn 30,000 acres per year
Burns would reduce risks of widspread forest fires The Payette National Forest is asking for comments on a multi-year project that would include as much as 30,000 acres of prescribed burns per year to reduce the risks of catastrophic forest fires. The “Resilience and Fuels Reduction Prescribed Fire Project” also seeks to improve habitat for wildlife and native plants on about 1.3 million acres of the forest.
New Meadows updates code to allow tiny homes
Tiny homes can now be built in New Meadows under a zoning code update adopted on Monday by the New Meadows City Council. The updated code sets standards for tiny homes, or homes that are less than 400 square feet, in hopes of reducing a housing shortage in the area, New Meadows Mayor Julie Good said.
Red Cross blood drive in McCall set for Nov. 29-30 at Elk Creek
The American Red Cross will host its next McCall blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from noon to 6 p.m.

McCall mayor walks 1 million steps to earn city $1,000

Valley P&Z OKs Tamarack Falls sub
Plan would build 124 homes W. of Donnelly Valley County Planning and Zoning commissioners said last week that a proposal to build 124 houses west of Donnelly was “one of the best.” Commissioners approved the Tamarack Falls Estates Subdivision proposed for 2-1/2 miles southwest of Donnelly on about 115 acres.
