Chamber gives up sponsorship after decade-plus The City of McCall will be responsible for putting on a July 4 fireworks display in McCall this summer, the McCall City Council decided last week. Council members directed city staff to begin organizing the show after the McCall Area Chamber of Commerce told the city in November that it would no longer sponsor the show.

The Payette National Forest is asking for comments on the 25,000-acre Railroad Saddle Forest Restoration Project about nine miles west of New Meadows. The purpose of the project is to improve the condition of the forest and watersheds and contribute to the local economy through commercial logging.

Patrick Pratchett has been hired as the new district manager to run the Cascade Aquatic and Recreation Center. Pratchett, 39, of Cascade had served on the Southern Valley County Recreation District Board of Trustees from June 2022 to December, when he was hired as the manager.
The Southern Valley County Recreation District will be governed by five trustees instead of three, with new members appointed to the newly created positions Jan. 12.
