McCall to host July 4 fireworks show

Chamber gives up sponsorship after decade-plus The City of McCall will be responsible for putting on a July 4 fireworks display in McCall this summer, the McCall City Council decided last week. Council members directed city staff to begin organizing the show after the McCall Area Chamber of Commerce told the city in November that it would no longer sponsor the show.

Pottery wheels added to PLMS art class

It took eighth-grader Seagrin Lawless only a few minutes to turn a lump of clay into a small bowl as it spun at about 100 revolutions per minute on a 10-inch-wide metal disc. Lawless is one of 20 students in Jared Hopkins’ visual art class at Payette Lakes Middle School, which has been working on a new ceramics project thanks to five electric pottery wheels purchased with a grant for about $9,000 from the nonprofit McCall-Donnelly Education Foundation.

Suspects arrested in two burglaries

Video doorbell cameras assist in both cases Three suspects were arrested last week by Valley County sheriff’s deputies in response to two forced-entry burglaries with the help of home security cameras. “Cameras from homes and neighbors are huge for helping us identify suspects and bring justice for victims,” said Valley County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant Kevin Copperi.
