Registration is open now for Cascade Library summer programs for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade.The program themed “Adventures Begins at the Library” is sponsored by the Idaho Commission for Libraries.Classes are free and will be held Monday to Thursday each week from 10 a.m.
Valley county will rename the Emergency Operation Center after retired county sheriff Patti Bolen in an official ceremony on Monday at 3 p.m.

The 40th annual Salmon River Jet Boat Races will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21 in Riggins along with a plethora of events geared to ring in the spring boating season.A Show and Shine Boat Show and Barbecue will start at 6 p.m.

Linda Fleetwood of McCall stood by and watched as a nuclear-powered attack submarine named the USS Idaho was christened in Groton, Connecticut, on March 16.The ceremony included Terri Stackley, the submarine’s sponsor, pouring bottles of water from Idaho lakes, including Payette Lake, onto the vessel in lieu of champagne.
