Vandals stay alive with 13-3 win

The McCall-Donnelly softball team exploded for seven runs in the third inning on its way to defeating Payette, 13-3, during a 3A District III Tournament elimination game to keep its season alive.With the win, the Vandals (4-6 Snake River Valley Conference, 7-14 overall) advanced to play Parma (6-4, 14-7) on Wednesday, with the winner earning a third and final automatic bid to the 3A State Softball Championships, slated for May 16-18 in Moscow.

Ski club loses nonprofit status

The Payette Lakes Ski Club recently lost its status as a nonprofit due to an accounting error, the group’s leadership said.The club’s Executive Director Colby Nielsen said he “fully expects” their nonprofit status to be reinstated following a review by the IRS.“A third-party accounting error caused the revocation of our 501c3 standing,” Nielsen said.The ski club, which manages the Little Ski Hill and Bear Basin Nordic Center, was notified by the IRS on March 14 that its nonprofit status would be revoked.“As soon as we were made aware of the error, we immediately remedied the issue and sent all required documentation to the IRS,” the club said in an email to supporters.“The IRS is in receipt of the required documentation and is processing our reinstatement application.

Parents of child killed by falling tree on ID55 sue ITD

The parents of a McCall youth who was killed last year by a falling tree on Idaho 55 are suing the Idaho Transportation Department and the State of Idaho.On June 7, 2023, Coltin Jones, 13, was in a vehicle driven by his grandmother heading south on Idaho 55 about two miles south of Banks when a falling tree struck the vehicle.
