Rarely in the spotlight, impossible to ignore, McCall-Donnelly defender Solomon Arndt has been recognized with a selection to the 4A All-Idaho First Team for boys soccer.Arndt was not alone in being honored during a vote by state coaches, as Vandal goalkeeper Michael Foster finally got his due by being chosen for the second team.Both honors come following a sterling season that involved M-D winning a fifth straight district championship and bringing home a fourth place trophy from the 4A state tournament.Arndt, who stands an imposing 6-foot-1, has played on the back line of defense his entire high school career.
University of Idaho Extension has a variety of classes coming up during the next two months, including a Small Farms Education class, a series on Whole Farm Planning and one on Food Preservation at Home.
With her daughter quickly growing out of each pair of ski boots, Maria Ames was excited to get season long ski equipment for $20 during the Toby’s Place Shred Shed event last Saturday.“Since we have three mountains to go to, we want to take advantage of it,” said Ames.

The Cascade girls basketball team was ramped up and ready to open the season last week against Vision Charter School of Caldwell, but poor weather forced the matchup to be rescheduled.The Ramblers still got in some preseason action with a couple of outings in the days leading up.Cascade coach Linzie Green said no scores were kept during a jamboree that featured opponents Compass Charter School and Wilder.

The Idaho Community Foundation recently announced over $89,000 in grant funding to nonprofit organizations in Valley and Adams County.Awards range from $1,000 to $7,500 to a broad range of groups including educational programs, health services, outdoor recreational opportunities, and cultural projects that enrich the lives of local residents.Organizations, the total amount granted and what the money will be used for are listed below.The contributions were awarded from two of the organization’s programs.About $46,400 was granted through the Perc H.
The McCall-Donnelly football team celebrated its season at a gathering last week, and handed out awards to players.Senior quarterback Maddox Arnold received Offensive Player of the Year.Linebacker Peyton Esplin, also a senior, was tabbed the Vandals’ Defensive Player of the Year.Finn Moon earned Lineman of the Year honors while Mikey Wyman received the Leadership Award.Junior Gunnar Newman was given the Sportsmanship award.Avery Riggs was tabbed the Vandal Tough Player while Colt Value was recognized with the Vandal Standard Player award.The junior varsity team also handed out awards, with Pete Trupiano being named Offensive Player of the Year and Landon Bledsoe earning Defensive Player of the Year.The Vandals went 6-4 this season, earning a trip to the postseason for a second straight season under head coach BJ Sorensen.
