New CWD rules for hunters

Hunters are now required to test all locally harvested deer for chronic wasting disease following a positive case of the fatal neurological disease south of New Meadows last fall.Testing is required for all deer harvested in units 23, 24, and 32A, which include the areas around McCall, Cascade, Donnelly, New Meadows and Council.Hunters must submit heads or lymph nodes from all deer in these areas within 10 days of harvesting the animal, according to the new rules implemented by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.For more information, visit www.idfg.idaho.gov/cwd/monitoring.

McCall Hiking Club

The McCall Hiking Club will continue hiking right into fall and welcomes locals and visitors alike to join outings.On Saturday the club members will hike Pete Creek Trail, an easy six mile jaunt that begins at a trailhead four miles west of Burgdorf, from the campground on the left side of the road.
