A $2.1 million budget proposal for 2025 was adopted on Monday by the Donnelly City Council. The city will collect about $146,000 in property taxes under the 2025 budget, which includes the maximum 3% property tax increased allowed by state law.
Chuck Silzly has been hired as the new Cascade Schools Principal, taking over for Lindsay Anthony, who served in the position for two years. Silzly comes to the district with 26 years of experience in education.
The Cascade cross country team is off and running, armed with a new coach as the fall season opens Wednesday at the Middleton Soggy Sneaker Run. Josh Miller, 30, will lead Rambler runners after accepting the head coach position, which oversees cross country for both junior high and high school.
The Mountain Community School will add a hot lunch option, a new yurt classroom and an outdoor play area this year. The charter school, which opened its doors in 2022, serves children in kindergarten through eighth grade and is located at the base of Tamarack Resort in a space that formerly housed the resort’s ski school.

Add Hall of Famer to the long list of achievements for Cascade’s Bill Platts.The local 96-year-old track and field world record-holder was inducted into the Idaho Senior Games Hall of Fame at a ceremony last week.Platts received a custom glass trophy of recognition, with his name engraved.
