The Cascade Killer Whales swim team collected several personal records while hosting a meet on Saturday at the Cascade Aquatic and Recreation Center.Cascade swimmers enjoyed a banner day while welcoming the West YMCA team, also known as the Blue Dolphins.

The first stages of construction are underway on a new public beach access, up to six rental cabins and an event center at Kokanee Cove in Ponderosa State Park.Plans also include pathways, extensive landscaping, restrooms, parking spaces and a new access road.The site to the south of the public boat launch in Ponderosa Park was purchased from the Nazarene Church in the early 2000s.

Connecting to the sewer system in McCall will now cost about $3,500 more, the Payette Lakes Recreational Water and Sewer District Board of Directors decided last Wednesday.The new rate increased the one-time connection fee cost by about 36% from $10,100 to $13,784.

Local teams treated fans to a handful of victories as the West Central Idaho Youth Baseball Club hosted its first-ever tournament in McCall last weekend.The McCall Mountaineers 12-and-under team led the way by winning four of seven games during the three-day gathering, which featured teams from surrounding Idaho and even Oregon.The McCall Moose Babe Ruth team opened play among the Babe Ruth ranks (age 13-15) on Friday, but were dismissed 13-6 by Grangeville.
