Perpetua to start work on new road to Stibnite

Perpetua Resources will begin work this summer to site a new roadway to the company’s proposed gold and antimony mine near Yellow Pine.Drilling rigs, excavators and other equipment will be used to collect 40 soil samples from along the proposed Burntlog Route, which begins near Landmark and connects to the Stibnite mine site using the Meadows Creek Lookout Road. The samples will guide the exact configuration of the route, which requires building 15 miles of new roadway, including some within about 100 feet of the Frank Church – River of No Return Wilderness.Plans for the preliminary work were recently approved by the Boise National Forest, which found the project is unlikely to cause significant environmental harm.Helicopter drilling rigs that use temporary platforms would be used to collect samples from 14 remote areas along the route.
