It was not the ending they had hoped for, but what an ending anyway.Three Ramblers scored in double figures as Cascade knocked off season-long rival Garden Valley, 55-42, on Saturday at the 1AD2 State Tournament to bring home a third place trophy.Rambler coach Josh Hurley hugged his point guard, Tyler Thurston, after the game, and the two spoke.“And I just lost it,” the coach said.

M-D’s state dreams denied

A singular season ended on a sour note when the McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team lost to Teton of Driggs, 67-58, last week in Meridian to open the 3A State Tournament.Sam Penny scored 22 points and Luke Scott added 20 points but the Vandals quest to compete for a state title – and win a 19th straight game – was snuffed out when the Timberwolves pulled away with a late run.A special season up to that point – a district championship, regular season title and 18 straight wins – meant little as M-D players walked off the floor at Meridian High School, disappointed, devastated.“The kids gave the best effort they had today in a very tough game,” Vandal head coach Jason Tinney said.
