Snowshoe golf marks 25th year at Winter Carnival
Ramon Alford did not like the expected silence and firm rules of regular golf, so in the winter of 1999 he strapped on a pair of snowshoes and set up a golf course in his backyard. With the help of Robert Lyons, the 1999 McCall Winter Carnival director, Alford turned snowshoe golf into the annual carnival event enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.Alford used his wooden snowshoes to stomp down the greens and chose an assortment of items as golf tees.
