A taste of Italy – McCall couple imports unique liqueur

Nick and Lee Zello traveled to Italy more than a decade ago to track down their family history but came back with a passion project that is now coming to fruition.While visiting a remote Italian town in 2012, the couple were treated to a local botanical liqueur called Amaro Santa Croce.The husband-and-wife duo, who import the Amaro together, will host a tasting of the spirit on Saturday from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Cascade cancels Council to reach final

Cascade boys basketball players are right back where they want to be – playing for a district championship.Tyler Thurston collected 22 points and seven assists while Cole Olson scored 17 points as the Ramblers held off Council, 65-57, during a 1AD2 District III Tournament semifinal last week at Novotny Gym.The Ramblers (9-1, 16-5) will now play Garden Valley (9-1, 20-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Vandals seize state return

The McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team is headed back to state.Sam Penny scored 31 points and the Vandals took down Fruitland, 67-43, during a 3A District III Tournament semifinal on Saturday to punch a ticket to the end-of-season big dance, slated for Feb.
