Ramblers ready to step up

The Cascade girls basketball team opens the season today against North Star enjoying one of the largest turnouts for the program in recent memory.Rambler head coach Steve Yamamoto welcomes 16 athletes to the hardwood this winter, giving him enough players to fill both varsity and junior varsity lineups.The Cascade varsity tips off today at 6 p.m.

Vandals snare SRV selections

McCall-Donnelly’s Cole Burtenshaw wrapped up his senior season with first team selections on both sides of the ball as the Snake River Valley Conference announced postseason awards for football.Burtenshaw earned top honors at both wide receiver and defensive back and was joined by a trio of teammates – Glenn Richardson, Jack Duncan and Peyton Esplin – in earning a first team nod following the vote by league coaches.Richardson, a senior lineman, was also recognized for his all-around play, nabbing first team honors for his work in the offensive trenches as well as a second team nod on the defensive line.Duncan, a senior, was also recognized for his work on the defensive line, making the All-SRV First Team.
