McCall spends $90K on “toaster” renovation

City employee could move in this summer A building on Davis Avenue known as “the toaster” could be ready for a City of McCall employee to move into this summer after action taken last week by the McCall City Council. Council members unanimously voted to approve a $90,000 contract to remodel a 1,100-square-foot guest house that was donated to the city last year for use as employee housing.

Cascade opens with Kendrick

The Cascade boys basketball team is hoping to get defensive as it opens the 1AD2 State Tournament today against Kendrick. The Tigers of Latah County are 17-3 this season and bullied their way through the Whitepine League with a 10-0 record.

McCall Nordic sprints at LSH

The McCall Nordic and Biathlon Ski Club hosted the first Night Sprint races at the Little Ski Hill Saturday. After the T-bar closed for the day, organizers set up a short, one-kilometer loop from the base of the lift to the base of Race Run under the ski hill’s lights.

The Payette National Forest will be conducting multiple prescribed fires from spring to early summer, between March and July, depending on weather conditions. Prescribed fires reduce surface fuels, increase the height of the canopy, reduce small tree densities and promote fire resilient trees, which improves the ability to protect communities from wildfire.
