2.5 acres on island now privately owned The Bellevue attorney who bid on a Cougar Island lot during a September auction paid $2.1 million to complete the sale by yesterday’s deadline, according to the Idaho Department of Lands. Jim Laski, who owns a home on a 2.5-acre lot on the 14.2-acre island in Payette Lake, was required to pay $2.1 million to the lands department.

Matthew Daniels won his second tournament in as many tries this season as the McCall-Donnelly wrestling team competed at the Calhoun Classic on Friday and Saturday in Nyssa, Oregon. Adam Rushton, Jake Carr and Finnigan Moon also made the podium, each finishing fourth at a tournament that featured wrestlers from every classification in Idaho as well as teams from Oregon.
Taylor Nalder placed second in the five-kilometer skate race at the 2022 Sun Valley Super Tour & Intermountain Opener event on Sunday. Nalder was one of five skiers from the McCall Nordic and Biathlon Ski Club to race in the team’s first event of the season.
The McCall-Donnelly boys basketball team had a two-game win streak snapped on Saturday against Cole Valley, 50-44, but coach Jason Tinney kept repeating the same five words after the game, “We’re going to be okay.”
Gabi Green delivered 20 points and seven rebounds, but the McCall-Donnelly girls basketball team came up short against Grangeville, 46-43, missing a chance to even things at the buzzer. Jenna Thomas chipped in six points as the Vandals moved to 3-3 with the non-conference loss.
Perpetua Resources should help create more housing in the City of Cascade if its proposed Stibnite mine near Yellow Pine is approved, according to the Cascade City Council. The council on Monday approved a letter to be submitted to the Payette National Forest on its draft environmental study of the Boise company’s latest proposal for the proposed gold and antimony mine.
