November saw a record 879 timber loads hauled off the Payette National Forest in a single month. A typical month on the Payette sees between 200 to 300 semi-trucks each hauling about 55,000 pounds of downed trees to nearby lumber mills, said Payette public affairs specialist Kelly Martin.

Results now available in minutes, not days Last week a patient at the Cascade Medical Center was found to have the swine flu and quickly asked to quarantine themselves thanks to new testing equipment that diagnosed the virus while they were still at the doctor’s office. Days later, another patient was diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, on the new machine that can definitively tell doctors whether a patient has COVID-19, RSV or a specific strain of the flu, said Cascade Medical Center CEO Tom Reinhardt.
