The Scouts, parents and adult leaders of Troop 246 would like to give a great big THANK YOU to Tom Grote and wish him a happy and healthy retirement. His wonderful support publishing many photos and stories of our adventures and service projects over the years has helped keep the Scouting culture strong in Valley County.
While things are changing in the ownership and on the management team at The Star-News, it is our plan to continue providing the kind of news to which this community has become accustomed. Tom and Tomi Grote have poured their heart and soul into this newspaper for a very long time, and we honor their contribution.
Thank you for support with Red Cross blood drive The American Red Cross would like to thank everyone who donated blood at the McCall blood drive last week at the Elk Creek Church. We had 124 donors and 137 units of blood collected; 98 donors have signed up for our next blood drive: Tuesday, Jan.

A $203,000 payment for golf carts, merchandise and other items owned by retiring McCall Golf Course pro Allan Morrison was approved last week by the McCall City Council. The city’s payment to Morrison, the municipal course’s contracted pro since 2003, completes the transition of the course to city management by David DiMartino, a new city employee.
