The duo of pianist Alex Sjobeck and bassist David Baker will perform at McCall Music Society’s Second Sunday Sounds at Six on Sunday at McCall Community Congregational Church. The duo incorporates elements of modern jazz as well as popular, folk and classical music into their impressionistic jazz.
Housing authority will be born hungry
It was a very nice gesture last week for the McCall City Council to disband the McCall Environmental Advisory Committee in an attempt to reduce government bureaucracy, but then the council turned right around and established the McCall Area Housing Authority. They may have created a monster.
Stibnite Gold analysis fails to address significant shortcomings
On Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, the Forest Service announced the release of the Stibnite Gold Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which analyzes the Stibnite Gold Project – a proposed open-pit, cyanide vat leach mine in the headwsaters of the East Fork South Fork Salmon River. Following the release of the original analysis in 2020, the Forest Service took the highly unusual step of conducting an SDEIS because the initial mine plan posed too great of a water contamination threat.
