Lilian Miller and Kayla Bartlett both scored a team-high six points as the Cascade girls basketball junior varsity team defeated North Star Charter School, 29-12, last week in Eagle. Miller led the Ramblers with four points but the JV lost to Wilder, 42-13, on Friday at Novotny Gym.
The Cascade boys basketball team that advanced to the 1AD2 state tournament last year is back this season to build on that success. The Ramblers open play on Tuesday, traveling to Caldwell to take on Centennial Baptist School.

McCall-Donnelly High School Drama Club won the first-ever “Sweep” Championship award presented to a 3A school at the District III Drama Tournament last Saturday at Nampa’s Ridgevue High School. The tournament has only awarded “Sweep” championship plaques in the 4A and 5A school classifications in previous years.
Rich Swenson heard a crackling sound in his house late Friday night, but the telltale sign of fire was not coming from the fireplace. “I finally looked up at the ceiling and I saw that the fire was glowing next to the chimney box up at the very crown of the ceiling,” said Swenson, who quickly called 911 after realizing the situation.
