Innovative curriculum at MDHS

A dozen McCall-Donnelly high schoolers peered into the open engine compartment of a school bus in the cold winter afternoon on Friday to confirm that the bus was ready to roll. The 12 juniors and seniors will each have to repeat the process again before the end of the semester as part of an elective class to obtain a commercial drivers license.

Valley County seeks council applicants

Valley County is seeking members for a newly created recreation advisory council to help direct the recreation department. The council will have seven to nine members to provide recommendations and advice on the best use of lands and funding to meet the growing demand for public recreation in Valley County, recreation department planner Dave Bingaman said.

Brundage patrol gears up for ski season

A steady beeping noise droned loudly in Janna Allen’s ear as she sliced her shovel through snow last week during a rescue training drill at Brundage Mountain Resort. The noise was coming from a new radar device available to the resort to help find lost skiers and snowboarders this coming ski season, which is set to begin on Friday at Brundage.

PLMS wrestlers throw down in Payette

Colt Crockett, Cayden Fee, Damian Nuno, and Kevin Rushton each won two matches as the Payette Lakes Middle School wrestling team competed at a quad-dual last week in Payette. Coltin Jones, Nicholas Craus, and Garrett Rogers also picked up a win as the Vikings took on middle school competition from Homedale, Payette and Ontario (Oregon).
