BY DREW DODSON The Star-News A federal study of Perpetua Resources’ proposed gold and antimony mine near Yellow Pine “fails to address significant project shortcomings,” according to the Idaho Conservation League. The study focuses on an updated mining plan Perpetua submitted to the Payette National Forest in December 2020 to improve water quality and fish habitat at Stibnite.
BY DREW DODSON The Star-News Public meetings on a new draft environmental study of Perpetua’s proposed Stibnite mine will be held next month in McCall, Cascade and Boise. The meetings will be hosted by the Payette National Forest, the lead permitting agency on the proposed gold and antimony mine near Yellow Pine, and the Boise National Forest.
The McCall Streakers will kick off their 40-day exercise challenge for women on Monday, Nov. 14, to raise money for local scholarships for high school female athletes. Participants commit to 30 minutes of intentional exercise a day plus 5 minutes of plank, 100 crunches and 50 push-ups per week.
Proposal for water quality, fish singled out The newest plan by Perpetua Resources to improve water quality and fish habitat at Stibnite is the best among all plans submitted, the Payette National Forest said last week. The Payette selected Perpetua’s plan as the “preferred alternative” among five plans studied for Perpetua’s proposed gold and antimony mine at Stibnite.
Voters in the City of Cascade will be asked on Tuesday to approve up to $4 million in borrowing to build a new city well, improve water lines and install more fire hydrants. The bond measure requires 50% plus one vote approval to pass.
