Critics rap Payette’s findings on Perpetua’s plans for Stibnite

BY DREW DODSON The Star-News A federal study of Perpetua Resources’ proposed gold and antimony mine near Yellow Pine “fails to address significant project shortcomings,” according to the Idaho Conservation League. The study focuses on an updated mining plan Perpetua submitted to the Payette National Forest in December 2020 to improve water quality and fish habitat at Stibnite.

Proposal for water quality, fish singled out The newest plan by Perpetua Resources to improve water quality and fish habitat at Stibnite is the best among all plans submitted, the Payette National Forest said last week. The Payette selected Perpetua’s plan as the “preferred alternative” among five plans studied for Perpetua’s proposed gold and antimony mine at Stibnite.

McCall P&Z puts off middle school expansion

M-D opposes requirement for a road through the site An application for a $7.5 million expansion of Payette Lakes Middle School will have to wait until January for a decision, the McCall Area Planning and Zoning Commission decided Tuesday. The delay was ordered until a study is complete on traffic that would be generated by hundreds of homes proposed near the school.
