Vandal gridders hold on to beat Payette, 28-20, in squeaker

Crossley catches game-winning TD, makes two interceptions Will Crossley caught the game-winning touchdown with seconds remaining as the McCall-Donnelly football team held on to defeat Payette, 28-20, on Friday during a pivotal Snake River Valley Conference matchup. Crossley also came up with twosecond-halfinterceptions during what was likely his final game donning a Vandal jersey under the lights of the Richard Sabala Athletic Complex.

Lathrop’s 2 goals lifts Vandal girls to district soccer title

M-D starts state 3A tournament today in Twin Falls Peyton Lathrop came through with two goals as the McCall-Donnelly girls soccer team punched a ticket to the 3A state tournament with a 3-2 victory over Snake River of Blackfoot on Saturday. Tylie Value also hit the net while Piper Lamm, Ella Carey and Lily Mihlfeith provided assists as the Vandals won a state play-in game that took place in Twin Falls.

Vandal boys win district title with 1-0 defeat of Weiser

M-D to play American Falls today in state tournament Caleb Beaman scored the game’s only goal to help the McCall-Donnelly boys soccer team win the 3A District III championship last week. The Vandals defeated Weiser, 1-0, in the title match played last Thursday at Rich Sabala Athletic Complex to earn a spot in the 3A state tournament, which kicks off today in Twin Falls.

The Process

Valley County has jurisdiction over many endowment lands around McCall because they are within the McCall Impact Area, which was created under a 1977 agreement with the city. The county adopts zoning laws for the impact area that mirror those in place for city limits, but decision-making authority for private land in the impact area rests with the county commissioners.

Officials want to get moving on wake zones

Plan urges 500-foot nowake zones on parts of Payette L., Lake Cascade County and city officials said Monday they hope to have new no-wake zones on Payette Lake and Lake Cascade in place by next summer’s boating season. Valley County commissioners and council members from McCall and Cascade reviewed the latest version of the Valley County Waterways Management Plan, which calls for expanded no-wake zones.

Dog dies, horse sickened after drinking tainted water The death of a dog in Gem County and a horse that became sick has prompted health officials to warn people and animals to avoid Lake Cascade and the North Fork of the Payette River. The agencies stopped short of issuing an official health advisory, which is only done when toxin levels in the water exceed a threshold that is harmful to people.
