The McCall-Donnelly boys and girls soccer teams start play in the 3A state high school championships today at the Sunway Soccer Complex in Twin Falls. The Vandal boys received a No. 2 seed entering the tournament and will take on No. 7-seeded American Falls, which at 13-2-2 finished atop South East Idaho Conference regular season standings.
Special study urged of key state parcels Protecting state endowment lands around Payette Lake would also protect the lake’s water quality, Valley County commissioners told a panel of local officials on Monday. “If you destroy the watershed, then you destroy the lake and it comes right on down to everybody,” Commission Chair Elt Hasbrouck told the group.
Valley County has jurisdiction over many endowment lands around McCall because they are within the McCall Impact Area, which was created under a 1977 agreement with the city. The county adopts zoning laws for the impact area that mirror those in place for city limits, but decision-making authority for private land in the impact area rests with the county commissioners.
Plan urges 500-foot nowake zones on parts of Payette L., Lake Cascade County and city officials said Monday they hope to have new no-wake zones on Payette Lake and Lake Cascade in place by next summer’s boating season. Valley County commissioners and council members from McCall and Cascade reviewed the latest version of the Valley County Waterways Management Plan, which calls for expanded no-wake zones.
Dog dies, horse sickened after drinking tainted water The death of a dog in Gem County and a horse that became sick has prompted health officials to warn people and animals to avoid Lake Cascade and the North Fork of the Payette River. The agencies stopped short of issuing an official health advisory, which is only done when toxin levels in the water exceed a threshold that is harmful to people.
A total of $46,000 in grants were awarded last week from the proceeds of the 2022 Fosdick Benefit Golf Tournament . The awards were given during an event held Oct. 12 at the MeadowCreek Golf Resort clubhouse.
