The Idaho Headwaters Economic Study Group was formed by a coalition of over 50 businesses in Valley County. The objective of IHESG is to have a fully independent and impartial study conducted concerning the effects the Stibnite Gold Proposal, what effects will the proposed mine have on the sustainability and greater good of our community, our way of life and our business climate.

The value of an ambulance showing up

Voters in and surrounding Cascade and New Meadows will be asked on Nov. 8 to dramatically raise their property taxes for services they hope they will never need. Their choice is whether the benefit of having ambulances and fire trucks at the ready is worth the cost to provide them as well as the firefighters and EMTs who ride in them.

Cascade students ask that jazz band be changed to rock band The six-person band at Cascade Schools was tired of playing jazz standards, so they thought they would throw in some rock ’n’ roll. Now, the former Cascade Jazz Band is the Cascade Rock Band, with sounds by Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong and John Coltrane replaced by Weezer and other rock bands popular in the 1990s.
