The filing period for the election of four positions on the McCall City Council opens Monday and closes Friday, Sept. 4. The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Three of the positions are for a standard four-year term, and one is for a two-year term. Those elected take office in January 2010. Candidates must declare the position for which they are filing.

None of the incumbents have publicly announced their intentions.

Cathie Caccia and Debbi Murphy will offer a three-day series called “Tools for Transformation: Finding Peace Inside & Out,” Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28 to 30, at Shanti Yoga Studio in McCall.
The series begins with “Yin Yoga & Meditation” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. Organizers said Yin Yoga is restorative, opens the physical and energetic body, and helps participants cultivate patience and contentment as the prelude to meditation.
On Saturday, Aug. 29, a session entitled “Removing Obstacles, Being Peace” will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In this session, participants will use chanting, breathing and twisting to clear the emotional and mental patterns that act as veils to the experience of inner peace.
The series concludes Sunday with “Peace Inside and Out” from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This session will use chanting, backbends and Yoga Nidra to develop clarity and courage to take the vision out of the yoga studio and apply it to daily life.
The cost of the sessions is $40 each or $110 for all three. For more information, call 634-9711 or e-mail info@shantiyogastudio.org.
Caccia is the owner of the Hailey Yoga Center and has taught yoga in the Wood River Valley for the past 19 years. She is dedicated to the philosophy and practice of yoga and its ability to heal the body and spirit.
Murphy, the owner of Shanti Yoga Studio, has been fascinated by the mind-body connection since her days at the University of Missouri, where she completed her master’s degree in counseling psychology and doctorate in exercise science.
Murphy moved from Missouri to McCall in 1994, and she and fellow teacher Pam Blasco opened their studio dedicated to yoga in 2001.
Murphy directs Shanti Yoga School, which is registered with Yoga Alliance at both the 200- and 500-hour level. The workshop provides 20 hours’ credit towards certification.
